Community Radio Demanded for the Indigenous People Rajshahi,
02 August 2009: Community
radio can play significant role for the socio-economic
development and preservation of the language and culture of
the indigenous people. Therefore, establishment of a
separate community radio for the indigenous people has been
demanded.
Mass
communication oriented knowledge centre CCD organized this
program. In his speech, Fazle Hossain Badsha called upon the
government to form a separate land commission to preserve
the housing and agro-land of the indigenous people from the
grasp of the land grabbers. Later he distributed
certificates among the female participants of the long-term
radio journalism training course. Presided
by CCD Chairman and noted journalist S M A Qader, the
program was addressed as special guests by Chairperson of
Association for Development Agencies of Bangladesh (ADAB)
Rajshahi Chapter Proshanto Saha, General Secretary of
National Indigenous Council Robindronath Soren and Chairman
of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Rajshahi
University Moshihur Rahman. CCD Director and media
personality G M Mourtoza conducted the program held at Haji
Muntazul Hoque Auditorium at Monafer Morh in the city. Notably,
a total of 37 delegates from Saontal, Urao, Mahato, Malo,
Munda, Dolit, Hajong, Garo and Chakma indigenous communities
are taking part in the radio journalism training course.
Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of
Rajshahi University Dulal Chandra Biswas, Moshihur Rahman,
Shatil Shiraj and media personality G M Mourtoza conducted
the sessions in the first round of the training course
titled as Training on Basic Radio Journalism. |
