Awareness Raising Program
Started in Rajshahi Radio

Mass communication oriented knowledge centre CCD Bangladesh has taken this initiative of broadcasting the special program on the occasion of World AIDS Day 2008. Produced under Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU-MAE) Award, this program will be broadcast through Rajshahi Radio station (Band 105 M) at 08:00 pm on every Thursday night. This program will contain diversified data and information on the life style and behaviour of the vulnerable communities such as floating sex workers, hotel based sex workers, residential sex workers, brothel-based sex workers, drug users, commercial blood donors, homo-sexual and the transgender. Moreover, each program will comprise of interviews of government, non-government officials, higher officials and AIDS experts from donor agencies and concerned organizations who are working for AIDS prevention. The program has been produced by media personality G M Mourtoza and organizers of Bangladesh Advanced Students Alliance (BASA), Rajshahi Youth Citizen Forum and Women Empowerment Network (WEN), co-organizations of CCD and the activists of audio-visual production and broadcasting team of CCD are rigorously working to complete the series program. This program is being broadcast at 08 pm on every Thursday through Rajshahi Radio Station (105 KHz) under the award program of Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union. The program has broadcasted on 27 November was mainly on the perspective of the floating sex workers of Bangladesh. The reasons of the vulnerability of the street based sex workers for HIV/AIDS and the duties to make them free of AIDS risk have been discussed in details in the program. Executive Director of HIV/AIDS and STD Alliance of Bangladesh (HASAB) Dr Najnin Akter, Team Leader of AIDS Prevention Project of Centre for Development Services (CDS) Dr Motiur Rahman, Manager of PIACT Bangladesh Rajshahi Drop-In-Center Azizur Rahman and some street based sex workers actively took part in this radio program. The listeners can win attractive prizes through taking part in the quiz competition based on this program. The program has broadcasted on 20 November mainly on the perspective of the transgender community of Bangladesh. The reasons of the vulnerability of the transgender for HIV/AIDS and the duties to make them free of AIDS risk have been discussed in details in the program. Executive Director of Bandhu Social Welfare Society Saleh Ahmed, President of Diner Alo Maya Khan, Manager of Light House Rajshahi Office Md Moffajjal Hossain and some transgender people actively took part in this radio program. The listeners can win attractive prizes through taking part in the quiz competition based on this program.
