Debate Competition in RU
Mishu
Champion in AIDS Awareness Debate

 Student
of Mass Communication Department of Rajshahi University
(RU) Mahfuzur Rahman Mishu annexed champion in the
Inter-personal Debate Competition to make the students
aware of HIV/AIDS held at the Law Gallery of RU today.
Focusing
on the slogan 'Get up at homes to prevent AIDS',
development organization Centre for Communication and
Development-CCD and its co-organization Bangladesh
Advanced Students Alliance (BASA) organized the
competition as a part of the Debate Festival being held
at RU. A large number of debaters from 76 debating teams
of Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of
Engineering and Technology (RUET), Rajshahi Medical
College, Asian University of Bangladesh, Rajshahi Govt.
College and Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute and other
higher educational institutions of Rajshahi.
 The
debate competition arranged with the support of National
AIDS/STD Program (NASP) and UNICEF was held in three
rounds. The topic of the final round debate was AIDS is
Possible only through Introducing Compulsory Sex
Education at Every Level. The best ten debaters selected
from the first and second round competed in the final
round. Facing a hard competition Mahfuzur Rahman Mishu
became champion in the debate. Student of Sociology
Department of RU Md Aminul Islam and student of English
Department of RU Shahnaz Akhter Ranu became the first
and second runner-up in the final competition. Assistant
Professor of Sociology Department of Rajshahi Government
College Poet Dr Abida Sultana conducted the final round
debate as moderator.

RU Murshida Ferdous Binte Habib, Assistant Professor of
Mass Communication Department of RU Shatil Siraj Shuvo,
Lecturer of Law Department of RU Md Abdul Alim, Lecturer
of English Department of RUET Md Shakhawat Hossain,
Teacher of Sirajgonj Bangabandhu College M A Matin,
former Team Leader of RU Debating Team Advocate Eusuf
Ali Chowdhury and Firoz Ibne Rahman Titas judged the
competition. A huge number of teachers and students of
different higher educational institutions enjoyed the
whole day debate competitions.
