Young
People Urged to Prevent HIV/AIDS
Rajshahi,
March 24:
The
visiting students of Sussex University of United Kingdom
(UK) called upon the young people to play vital role in
AIDS awareness and prevention activities, as, they said,
the young community are most vulnerable for AIDS and
they can play effective role in AIDS awareness and
prevention movement.
They
said it while attending a students meeting held at the
premises of Rajshahi University on Thursday. Mass
communication oriented development organization CCD
Bangladesh and its co-organization Bangladesh Advanced
Students Alliance (BASA) organized this meeting. They
also said, the young people are playing key-role in AIDS
awareness, prevention and ensuring free access to
treatment for the HIV infected people in UK. In
addition, the students and youth community have imposed
serious pressure upon the Government and concerned
policy makers of EU to ensure free access of treatment
for the HIV infected people, they added.
Organizers
of Students Stop AIDS (SSA) UK Sahil Jai Dutta and
Lottie Hamer as key speaker addressed the meeting held
under the Connecting Futures project of British Council.
Among others, BASA Organizers A S M Anisur Rahman Litu,
Salahuddin Ahmed Murad, Kazi Shafiqul Islam, Atiquzzaman
Nahid and S M Qamrul Hasan Shohag spoke on the occasion.
