Training Stressed on AIDS Prevention
Rajshahi,
May 28:
Long-term
training on HIV/AIDS has been stressed to
make the students and youth people aware
of and to ensure their active role in AIDS
prevention.
Pro-Vice
Chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU)
Prof Dr Mamnunul Keramat stressed it while
speaking as Chief Guest in the certificate
giving and closing ceremony of the
refresher training for resource students
on HIV/AIDS issues held in Rajshahi today.
Mass communication oriented development
organization CCD Bangladesh arranging this
function at the seminar room of Institute
of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) in Rajshahi
University (RU). National AIDS/STD Program
(NASP) and UNICEF supported the program.
Prof
Keramat also said, due to the prevailing
socio-economic condition, the students and
young people are becoming addicted to
drugs in an alarming rate. They have also
involvement in many other risky behaviors,
which are leading them to the
vulnerability of HIV/AIDS and other STDs.
Calling upon the students and young people
to build up strong AIDS prevention
movement, he said, the Government and the
donor agencies should adopt long-term
program to achieve this goal in HIV/AIDS
field.

Hoque addressed the function as special
guest while renowned journalist Editor of
the Daily Barta and Chairman of CCD
Bangladesh S M A Quader was in the chair.
Director of CCD Bangladesh G M Mourtoza,
Program Coordinator A H M Abdul Hai,
Information Management Officer Anisul
Ashekeen, Newsroom Editor of Boishakhi
Television Mahfuzur Rahman, BASA Organizer
Tofael Ahmmad, Shahnaj Akhter Ranu and
Lutfun Nahar Koruna, among others,
addressed the function.
A
large number of organizers and members of
BASA from Rajshahi University, Rajshahi
Govt. College, Rajshahi Govt. Women’s
College, Baneswar College, Puthia Degree
College and Naohata Degree College
actively took part in the training and
certificate-giving program. Chief Guest RU
Pro-VC Prof Dr Mamnunul Keramat handed
over the certificates to the participants
at the end of the function.
